Our Curriculum: Funshine Online
Highlands uses a designed curriculum that has both challenged and stimulated the children. Each month, our curriculum focuses on a different theme and includes lessons, activities and projects related to that particular theme. Parents are provided a monthly calendar that informs them of all the exciting things their child will be learning about that month.

Toddler Class
Ages: 12-24months
Our skilled teachers here at Highlands are focusing on age appropriate activities to keep little hands and brains engaged throughout the day, while maintaining a safe and fun learning environment. Our teachers create an age appropriate calendar that focuses on activities to go along with our monthly theme. During their time in the classroom, they will learn to socialize and interact with each other and have fun getting messy with hands-on learning through sensory activities.
2-Year Old Class
Our two's classroom - like the rest of Highlands- is a loving and fun space. Our teachers have put together age appropriate activities using the curriculum that will help them learn communication skills, develop gross and fine motor skills and promote independence, such as hand washing, potty training and sharing with friends. Your child will learn to engage with friends during teacher-structured centers and be able to explore their interest while they learn and play.
3-Year Old Class
We have developed a happy, safe and positive environment that builds confidence and instills a love of learning in each child. Social, emotional, and intellectual growth occur quickly at this stage. Our program is designed to stimulate your child’s curiosity and help him or her learn effectively and confidently. Our preschool curriculum uses rhymes, stories and hands-on activities to encourage those first steps. Social awareness is also an important stage of development for children at this age. We encourage our preschoolers to be kind and considerate of others, to listen and follow instructions.
VPK
(Voluntary Pre- Kindergarten)
Our VPK students are also taught through age- appropriate learning centers , each child has an opportunity to experience activities with creativity and joy; to be able to reason, choose, think, discuss their emotions verbally, and communicate with their peers.
HPGP staff is trained in both Funshine Online curriculum and the Florida State VPK standard to ensure our students are ready for Kindergarten.
